Leonora Guzman Amaral Schies
Leonora Guzman Amaral Schies of Lihue passed away at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Aug. 29, 2016, at the age of 101. She was born in Koloa, Hawaii, on May 4, 1915, and retired from Kauai Inn as a Housekeeper.
Preceded in death by her husbands, John E. Amaral and Cleo R. Schies; son, Gilbert Amaral; daughter, Dorothy A. Carvalho; grandsons, Charles “Chucky” Amaral and Gilbert “Butchie” Amaral; granddaughter, Adele T. Carvalho.
Leonora is survived by two sons, Charles (Dahlia) Amaral, Robert (Jonell) Amaral; daughter, Eleanor (Bill) Kennedy; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Helen Ruth Henriques , beloved Wife and Mother, was born on Sept. 6, 1934, in Chico, California, and passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 30, 2016, at the age of 81.
She is preceded in death by her sons, James Henriques and Eugene Henriques Jr.
Helen is survived by her husband, Eugene Henriques Sr.; children, Cheryl A. (James) Kirby of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Manuel S. (Samantha) Henriques; Mary L. Henriques, Ann Henriques; William G. Henriques of Kapaa; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother Bernard Hardesty of Chico, California.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept.6, 2016, at the St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa. Friends may visit with the family at 8 a.m. with Mass to begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be followed at the St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
Flowers are welcomed and casual attire is suggested.
