Activities with the Kauai Marathon on Saturday kick off with the Seventh annual Fun Run at 7:30 am.
The run begins at the end of Poipu Road, just past the Grand Hyatt Kauai. This is a three-mile run led by marathon Host Bart Yasso and Kauai Marathon champion Tyler McCandless. The fun run is not a race and will not be timed. Park in the designated event parking lot on the left at the end of Poipu Road. This event is free and open to the public.
Next, the Fourth annual Kauai Marathon Keiki Run, presented by Wilcox Health, begins on the far west side of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa at 9 a.m. Registration fees are $20. On-site registration begins at 8. There is a 100-yard toddler trot for 2-4 year olds, a quarter-mile run for 5-7 year olds and a half-mile run for 8-12 year olds. The Sports and Fitness Expo continues Saturday opening at 9 a.m., providing walk-in registrations and race packet pick-up until 4 p.m. Yasso will be available at the Expo from 10 to 11 a.m. for a “Meet and Greet” session, followed by a presentation at 1 p.m.
Saturday’s complimentary presentations in Grand Ballroom I begin at 10 a.m. with Dr. Carl Yu who will discuss healthy snacks for keiki. He is followed up by Dr. David Della who will discuss Urgent Care versus going to the Emergency Room.
The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon are scheduled for 6 a.m. Sunday in Poipu.
