James Hatsuji Masada
James Hatsuji Masada of Hanalei, passed away at the age of 88 on Aug. 7, 2016, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb. 4, 1928, in Lihue, and was a retired rancher with Gay and Robinson for 30+ years and a retired taro farmer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Watari Masada; daughter, Kristyne Inanod; brother, Harris Masada and sisters, Beatrice Yoshida and Evelyn Honda.
James is survived by his son, Marvin (Geary) Masada of Kilauea; daughter, Beryl Maka of Hanalei; son-in-law, Julio Inanod of Kilauea; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one hanai grandson; sisters, Margaret Kunimura of Honolulu and Jane Fujii of Lancaster, Calif.; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Waioli Hui’ia Church in Hanalei.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services following at 10:30.
Casual attire is requested and flowers are welcomed.

Debbie Rae Bennett
Debbie Rae Bennett of Puhi passed away at home on Aug. 18, 2016, at the age of 60. She was born in Washington on Aug. 20, 1955, and retired from Safeway as a manager in the Delicatessen Department.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Michael Bennett of Puhi; daughter, Shawn (Brian) Macduffee of California; two sons, Jeffery Bennett and Steven Bennett of Kauai; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Leslie) Brown of California, Tim Brown of Texas; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Bennett family with arrangements.
Flora Cadavona Ramelb
Flora Cadavona Ramelb, 92, of Lihue, Kauai, passed away on Aug. 18, 2016, at Garden Island Healthcare Center.
She was born on June 16, 1924, in Makaweli, Kauai, and was a retired janitor for the County of Kauai.
Survived by her son, Vicente Ramelb; daughter, Violeta Batangan; sister, Melchora Balisacan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Services at 10 a.m.
Burial to follow at Hanapepe public cemetery.
