LIHUE — Erika Valente and Emily “the professional shopper” Lucente said she would get any of the items laid out at JANE, a lifestyle boutique that opened its doors Friday at Kukui Grove Center.
“We’re professional shoppers,” Valente said. “These are things I would buy for myself, or for someone I love.”
JANE is operated by Erika and her three daughters, Bree, Bailey, and Janey, a student at Island School.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Erika said. “Have something I could work with my daughters with. Bree and Bailey are adults, and we made a trip to Dallas, Texas where they had a buying show with all kinds of vendors. This lifestyle boutique will offer a selection of gift items, fine stationary, and unique home accents.”
Wade Lord, Kukui Grove general manager, is pleased to welcome the new store between Starbuck Coffee and Genki Sushi.
“This is a real treat for the community,” Lord said. “JANE is a local and contemporary boutique that will offer our friends and neighbors a chance to buy unique items and gifts for their home and everyday life.”
JANE’s hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on week days, and open until 9 p.m. Fridays.
“From ferns to fiddle figs, I love my plants,” Erika said. “The best time of the day is the mornings when I get to move my plants to the shop’s ‘planting area,’ and fiddle with them. I just got some new plants, and they’re waiting for me to work with them.”
