Highway reopens

HANALEI — Kuhio Highway at the Hanalei Bridge has been cleared of debris and reopened about 4 p.m. Saturday.

It was closed about 9 a.m. following a landslide that saw debris cover the road after heavy rains in the area.

A crew from the state Department of Transportation used heavy equipment to clear the scene.

After the landslide, one lane was temporarily opened and police alternated traffic flow until state crews arrived.
