If you can make just one of the two scheduled games Friday, clear the calendar for the one that starts at 10 a.m. at the Main Diamond at the Mayor Bryan J. Batiste Memorial Stadium Complex in Kapaa.
The 10 a.m. game launches the Hawaii Little League state tournament for the Majors division and will be hosted by the District 1, or the Kawaihau Community Little League. The tournament continues through Tuesday at the Main Diamond.
Waipio will be representing District 7 and will face Honolulu, representing District 6, in the opening game.
“If you can make it to just one game, this one is it,” said Kennison Nagahisa, coach for the Kawaihau Majors. “The Honolulu team is the Go Nuts team that just won the Cal Ripken West Region tournament on Oahu last weekend (game televised on OC16). This will be a game of the two favorites in the tournament.”
The second game Friday will feature District 3 taking on District 4 starting at 1 p. m.
Action in the tournament continues with two games on Saturday, 10 a.m., and 1 p.m.; two games on Sunday, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; a single game Monday starting at 4 p.m., and the championship game on Tuesday starting at 9 a.m.
Richard Ota is the tournament director.
