Pokemon has hit the election trail as La‘akea Nakasone Chang Wo (yep, that’s his name) broke away from sign-waving to chase down a monster in Hanamaulu. His mom, Calah Nakasone, said the good thing about Pokemon is it gets the kids out of the house and walking … watch out for them Pokemon hunters, drivers!
Mark Perriello, Carol Manera Texeira and Anna Baudouin sure worked hard to get the Kauai Chamber of Commerce political forums going (great job to both Nadine Nakamura and Fern Rosentiel as “debaters” … heard a lot of good comments from people who heard the forum on the radio). But the good thing about forums is putting the excitement back into the elections as other political candidates dropped in on the Kapaa Middle School to hear other perspectives on issues.
Meanwhile, kudos to Haley Lord (that Back to School Bash is going to look good on somebody’s intern work report) on a great weekend (she even got to talk on the radio). Most of the staff got Friday off when Sharon Lasker and Elyse Litvack opened up the Backpack Brigade collection site (Derek Kawakami gave to both the Kukui Grove Back to School Bash and the Backpack Brigade!).
