LIHUE — The free Chevy Youth Baseball Instructional Clinic, presented by Hawaii’s Chevy dealers, will return to the Isenberg Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Kauai Major League Baseball Players Alumni Tyler Yates and Glenn Mickens will be joined by Ron Robinson, Albie Lopez, and Rene Gonzales in leading the clinic which is open to boys and girls of all skill levels from ages 6 through 14 years old. Check in starts an hour before the clinic.
“Last year, we had help from Jack Hodges and Larry Ephan,” said Devon Thraster of the MLBPAA. “Hopefully, they will be joining us this year as well.”
Participants should wear athletic apparel and bring their own glove, water bottle, and a bat, if available. Non-metal cleats, or tennis shoes are acceptable footwear.
Registration is required to participate and can be done online at www.baseball.youthsportsclinics.com with the “Select Market: Lihue CYB Clinic,” and “Password: playball.”
There is a limit of the first 200 players.
During the clinic, youth league members will spend a half day learning the fundamentals of baseball, including hitting, fielding, and pitching with instruction provided by former, or current Major or Minor League players and coaches, or the specialized Ripken Baseball staff. Each participant will also receive an exclusive clinic T-shirt and a post-clinic snack.
Family members are strongly encouraged to attend the entire clinic which is funded by the Chevrolet dealerships and offers participants the opportunity to receive training from experienced instructors at no cost.
