Hanalei Bay closed to swimming due to shark sighting

HANALEI — Ocean Safety officials have closed Hanalei Bay to swimming until further notice due to a shark sighting. Lifeguards report that two sharks were sighted near the pier area at approximately 1:30 p.m. today. “No Swimming” and “Shark Sighted”

HANALEI — Ocean Safety officials have closed Hanalei Bay to swimming until further notice due to a shark sighting.

Lifeguards report that two sharks were sighted near the pier area at approximately 1:30 p.m. today.

“No Swimming” and “Shark Sighted” signs have been posted along the beach and the public is advised to stay out of the water until further notice. Lifeguards on Jet Ski continue to monitor the area.

The beach will remain closed until at least tomorrow morning when lifeguards will reassess if the beach can be reopened.
