Listen to credible sources
In Janos Keoni Samu’s June 14 article, “Whom to listen to on transgender issues,” it is disturbing that the only source he cites is the American College of Pediatricians. Although their name certainly sounds official and respectable, this is a group that the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated as a hate group.
The ACP does not represent the views of the well-respected American Academy of Pediatrics. The ACP is a small conservative advocacy group with the fewer than 200 members. The American Academy of Pediatrics is a professional organization of over 60,000 pediatricians. I would encourage anyone who wants to learn more about transgender issues to put some careful thought into whom you do choose to listen to.

Gun control won’t stop evil people
Well, Chief Perry’s knee-jerk reaction is about as predictable as the sun rising, calling for more gun control. Why? Why is it that people still fall for that “feel good” premise that if you ban a certain type of firearm the world will suddenly be all good? That people will no longer have evil intentions because they couldn’t get their hands on a gun?
That is utter fantasy. The last time I wrote in I even included hard facts supplied by the CDC that refuted the anti-gunners claims of guns used for good vs bad. Look at the recent double murder of a French cop and his wife. They were stabbed to death. Where’s the cry for banning kitchen knives?
When was the last time you heard the media and these liberal bleeding hearts call for a ban on Buicks because a deranged woman plowed her car through a crowded bus stop?
The last murder on Kauai was committed with an edged weapon, a knife. I don’t hear Chief Perry calling for a pocket knives ban. Firearms are simply tools. An AR-15 is a semi-auto sporting rifle, it is not an assault rifle! It is not capable of fully automatic fire as wrongly (again) reported by the mainstream media. Cops carry guns. You know why? Because a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun or knife or bat or car or …
