HANALEI — The Hanalei Canoe Club will be hosting the 36th annual Haena to Hanalei run on Saturday.
The Kauai Police Department will be closing Kuhio Highway from Mahimahi Road to the end of the highway at Ke‘e Beach. Weke Road will also be closed, from Aku Road to Anae Road, and open to one lane of alternating traffic from Aku Road to Black Pot Beach.
All affected roadways will close at 5:30 a.m. to about 9 a.m. Police will be manning road closures as well as a turnaround area at Mahimahi Road.
Roughly 800 runners are expected to participate in the event, which includes an 8-mile run/walk from Ke‘e Beach to Black Pot Beach, with walkers going at 6 a.m. and runners at 7. A 5K and a one-mile run for kids start at 7 a.m. near the Hanalei Pier.
