Happy Camper for June 1, 2016

Kudos to all the Hui O Laka people on a great Banana Poka Round Up Sunday at the Koke‘e Civilian Conservation Corps Camp! Greg Askew (he even made it to the Memorial Day service Monday) was making a delivery of Ono Pops to the Koke‘e Lodge so figured he’d do breakfast and check out the festivities.

Laurie Ho was busy making another banana poka basket (Chris Faye made her first one, this year) so missed the Saturday market at Kauai Community College, and it was nice to see Thomas Nizo and Puni Patrick up on the mountain.

Kudos to the Kauai Veterans Council (Ed Kawamura was on Oahu for the Floating Lantern Ceremony) on another great Memorial Day service! Aida Cruz said this is the last Memorial Day where Capt. Bruce Hay will be appearing in uniform, and Tina Brun said she’ll talk to Joe about kicking dirt on people’s shoes.

Joe Olivas postponed his fish-and-grill until after the ceremony, and kudos to Shereen Ho‘opi‘i and the Girl Scouts on coming out to help the Boy Scouts (Lyle Tabata said someone had a late party going over the weekend).
