KAPAA — Santa appeared at the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital in a green aloha shirt with a kukui nut lei on Thursday.
“This is so wonderful,” said Josie Pablo, recreation director at the Mahelona Hospital. “We have enough for every one of our residents, and we can even share with some of the other patients. This is such a surprise to have Maka Herrod just appear with this presentation. It’s better than Christmas!”
Herrod, representing the Malie Foundation, delivered cartons containing gift bags of new clothing items including a blanket, socks, pajamas, T-shirts, and a card from Kanuikapono Public Charter School fourth graders.
The contributions were a result of a convention Herrod attended in April with a computer software firm.
The CEO of that firm which has international reach was visiting Kauai with 120 of its top-producing associates, Herrod said.
