Why not use cane haul roads?
I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but what the heck. The horse doesn’t seem to mind, and it makes me feel better. Every year Kauai’s traffic problem gets worse. I stopped going to the North Shore years ago. Why fight that nightmare?
Kauai has miles of unused cane haul roads. And no cane. Why not utilize them to relieve some of the congestion? Bypass roads, bike roads, truck roads, something … Privately owned? That’s why the state has condemnation powers.
Spending tons of money around Lihue’s government buildings might make those who “govern” feel better, but it does absolutely nothing to solve the problem. To say something has to be done is a laughable understatement!
Family thanks island for support during tragedy
Last Thursday, our father — Ronald Bamber from Australia — tragically passed away at Anini Beach whilst snorkelling.
On behalf of the entire family we would like thank everyone in Kauai who provided us with the love and support to help us through this.
We thank the people on the beach who comforted my mother, the medics, Fire Brigade, Kauai Police, Gina at Life’s Bridges, Kauai Beach Resort, Kauai Beach Villas, the wonderful staff at Hawaiian Airlines and the beautiful people of Kauai.
We will forever be grateful for support we received and Kauai will always be a place close to our heart.
The Bamber Family
Hold your breath, Chicken Little
This is in response to the letter (TGI, May 5) by Bettyjo Dux, “Reckoning for Republican Party.”
Hold your breath, Chicken Little, the sky is not falling. Trump has had 65,000 negative ads against him and $8 million spent to discredit him and the people have still come out in record numbers to vote for him.
I choose not to vote for a known liar and kisser of anyone who sends her money and who is being investigated by the FBI. That alone should scare people. Sorry but Trump didn’t trump these up. And the Bern — socialism doesn’t cut it for me either. That is not what this country stands for. But I would take him over Hil-Liary any day.
Hopefully the day of reckoning has come.
