Puakea staff shows aloha spirit
I want to take this opportunity to offer a pubic “thank you” to Sharon Lasker and the staff at Regency at Puakea. Their generosity has helped many local nonprofit organizations find a place to hold meetings and ultimately serve the community. That’s what aloha spirit is all about.
Mahalo for your continued support.
Don’t bring spouses into presidential race
Are you sure, Carla Harringer, that you want to open this can of worms when you write about the spouse of a current presidential hopeful (“I really cannot tolerate the concept of a Russian mail-order-bride as first lady,” TGI, Feb. 21.) because if you are, there is plenty of juicy material to write about when it comes to the spouse of the opposition presidential hopeful, starting with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and political volunteer Gennifer Flowers.
Going back a few years, Juanita Broaddrick claims that Bill Clinton raped her in a hotel room while Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey have made claims that he sexually assaulted them.
Now whose spouse would you rather have in the White House? I’ll take the beautiful Russian woman as First Lady any day rather than “Slick Willy.”
Keep candidates who support unions
Would The Garden Island, or some other watchdog organization, publish a list of county officials, council members, state legislators, both sides and presidential candidates who are in favor of a right to work state, aka, union busters in Hawaii?
I as a proud union member and want to be informed who are the wolf in sheep’s clothing and cast my vote to remove them from office. I do not want to live in a state such as Wisconsin, a once progressive state that now has stripped unions and will soon pass a law that will make it easier for collection agencies to bring people to court to collect, power to corporate and screw the people. I want to make good, informed decisions this very important election year and hope the rest of the citizens of Kauai, Hawaii and the Mainland do, too.
Get the facts and please don’t vote for the redirect and the smoke blowing, take a look at the facts and has that candidate you like even presented a solid plan on how they will run this country?
If not, best start seeking the answers or we will all end up in Wisconsin.
