Two weeks down, seven to go for the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps, Blue 2 team who were at the Kauai Museum, Monday to listen to Jim Jung talk about the Ha‘aheo, or Cleopetra’s Barge, and Polynesian nagivation (the canoe was inspired by Steve Soltysik).
Jim found the group during the Martin Luther King Day service where Lindsey Earl said the Americorps participate in these national service events and had the group volunteering to help set up, serve lunch, and break down at the Lihue Neighborhood Center.
Following the MLK service, the Americorps group is helping David Bieker with the Kauai Habitat for Humanity in building residences at the Eleele Iluna subdivision. Welcome to Kauai, Blue 2!
Greg Askew and Candace Boxer of Ono Pops have a new flavor in time for the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Fire Monkey (it falls on the day after the NFL Super Bowl 50!) — Dark Chocolate Chinese 5 Spice! Candace was busy distributing the new flavor featuring Wailua chocolate, Saturday at the Kauai Community Market where Nya Klutke (Grandma Sandi is still at home) had Goteburg and Spam rolls. Amber McClure (she’s already planning her yearly calendar trips based on the $64 air fares) had to try those new bite-sized products…perfect for one of the pockets and eating in the field.
