KALAHEO — Pono Carvalho netted 12 points to fuel the Papalina Orange to a 36-15 showing over the Yung Ballers Saturday when the county’s youth basketball contested five boys Division I games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Jeff Aradik scored five points to lead the Yung Ballers’ effort.
Mason Broyles finished with 22 points, but the Super Sonics dropped 56-36 to the Hanakila, a team comprised primarily of players in the Hanalei to Kilauea area. John Calvon topped the Hanakila win with 13 points.
In a similar situation, Rigo Flores netted 16 points, but the C-Town Bulls took a 54-34 win over the Garden Island Hoops-Gold. Braden Simao topped the Bulls’ scoring on 10 points.
The Garden Island Hoops rebounded from that loss when its Garden Island Hoops Green got 17 points from Kurtis Fujito-Pascua toward its 86-20 win over Team Lihue B who was led by Mike Manera scoring 12 points.
Arvin Lomboy netted 10 points to lead the Hanamaulu Hawks to a 40-29 edge over Team Lihue A who got 13 points from Marquie Manera in the nightcap.
The county’s youth basketball program continues Monday with three games on tap at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting at 6 p.m.
