Kudos to Larry Rivera (where was Charlie Perreira?) who made a special appearance at the Regency at Puakea to close off 2015. Larry got help from Paul Rivera (he’s originally from Beaverton, Oregon) and Gini Stoddard who did a fantastic sit-down hula and got a lot of the residents joining her.
That was just part of the excitement as Ed Terui officiated at the blessing of the new bus following Larry’s presentation. David Mona just returned from taking Mitsuko Matsuda on her errands, and Mitsuko was the first one to try out the new bus for size. Sharon Lasker said everyone gets to try out the bus this week on a scenic island tour.
Chucky Boy Chock of the Kauai Museum is totally stoked with the donation of a koa surfboard and paddle which was donated by Dr. Charles Taba because the board was just sitting around. Chucky Boy Chock said that Dr. Taba’s (he also made all the koa frames for the alii pictures on display) contribution was valued at $75,000 and will be part of a new surf and surfing exhibit he wants to create at the museum.
