Rain or shine, the Kauai Community Market, a partnership of the Kauai County Farm Bureau and the Kauai Community College, is a gathering place where farmers, local businesses, educators and students, residents and visitors come together to shop for fresh, locally grown and produced products.
“We started with just kim chee,” said Ferdinand Dosono of Kauai Kim Chee. “Then, we added the namasu and now we are at the two Kauai Farm Bureau partnership markets, and in several local grocery stores. We have more products planned for the coming year.”
Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays, the Kauai Community Market offers free education food demonstrations, community guests and tours of the KCC organic garden, supporting agriculture on Kauai. The market runs through 1 p.m. in the Kauai Community College parking lot — just look for the city of tents and cars.
The Kauai County Farm Bureau also partners with The Shops at Kukuiula for the weekly Kauai Culinary Market on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in Poipu.
