Kauai Island Brewing Co. in Port Allen is planning a day of music, food and liquids to benefit public schools and a nonprofit on Kauai.
On Wednesday, Dec. 30, the world’s westernmost brewery will donate proceeds to help the island’s education system and United Way and “enrich the generations to come.”
“This event is to invest back into our youth and community to build leadership, confidence and character for the bright future of Kauai,” said event coordinator Chris Pimienta, who handles a variety of tasks at the brewery.
He said while schools are filled with hard-working teachers and staff and classrooms are packed with students who want to learn and are doing well, Kauai Island Brewing Co. wants to do what it can so educators and students have what they need to be their best.
“According to The Garden Island, most of our public school falls into the Continuous Improvement category for school rankings with only one school receiving the highest ranking of Recognition,” Pimienta wrote. “We believe all schools have the potential to reach Recognition and we want to help.”
The 2008 Kauai High grad said they are looking for people to donate their time and talent to play music for the charity event. It is also looking for donations like gift certificates or items that can be used as prizes for drawings.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. There will be a $5 cover charge between 10 a.m. and 2 a.m.
“Please join us to be the change that Kauai needs,” Pimienta said.
