Kauai North Shore Lions, one of five Lions Clubs International chapters on Kauai, with Aloha Roofing Supply will host its annual Golf Tournament for Scholarships on Jan. 9 at the Princeville Makai Golf Course.
Proceeds will go to the club’s scholarship fund.
“This golf tournament we’re running every year, 100 percent of the proceeds go to North Shore kids going to school,” said Kauai North Shore Lions club secretary Jerry Moore.
The club has raised about $16,000 through the tournament the past two years.
Individual entry fee is $110. For those entering in groups of four, the fee is $100 each. Format of play will be a four-person scramble.
“And then you get to come out and support the local community,” said Moore, chairman of the golf tournament. “That’s the biggest thing — is coming out to support the community.”
Lunch is provided following the tournament. A helicopter ball drop will also be featured, with half the proceeds going to the winner.
There is not a set deadline to sign up.
“Obviously, we’d like to have it a couple of weeks in advance where people can start planning on signing up. But anytime from now on is good,” Moore said. “We sign up a lot of people last minute. It’s hectic, but we do do that.”
