Radford Kawika Matias Hepa
Radford Kawika Matias Hepa of Anchorage, Alaska passed away at the age of 29 in Anchorage, Alaska on November 23, 2015. Born on March 16,1986, in Lihue, Kaua’i, he worked in the oil industry with Kuukpik Drilling, LLC, in Alaska.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Manuel “Mac” Matias and paternal grandfather, Augustine Castaneda.
Kawika is survived by his son, Kymani Ikaika Hepa; and daughter, Kamea O’Kama Aleja Hepa of Anchorage, Alaska; father, Roland K. (Taqulik) Hepa; mother, Valerie A. Matias; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Oliver Jr. of Hanapepe, Hawai’i, Kamaka Q. Hepa and Keoni N. Hepa of Barrow, Alaska; sisters, Mallorie K. Hepa and Lynette K. Hepa of Barrow, Alaska, and Mariyah M. Oliver of Hanapepe, Hawai’i; grandmother, Rosemary Leialoha Hepa-Millarich and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 10, 2015 for an evening prayer at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 6 p.m. The prayer will begin at 7 p.m.
A celebration of Kawika’s life will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa’a. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with Mass at 11 a.m. and burial to follow at the Kapa’a Public Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd. and the family was assisted by the Alaska Funeral Home and Crematory in Anchorage, Alaska.
Akemi Teruya Kanoho
Akemi Teruya Kanoho, 67, of Hilo, died Nov. 22, 2015. Born in Uruma City, Okinawa, Japan, she was a travel agent and tour guide for Tours by Charlie.
She is survived by husband, Charles L Kanoho Jr. of Hilo; son, Kaweo Kanoho of Hilo; daughter, Nozomi Kanoho of Hilo; sisters, Mieko (Masaru) Asato and Seiko (Masakatsu) Ikeho of Okinawa, Japan; brothers, Toru (Akemi) Teruya and Makoto (Yukari) Teruya of Okinawa, Japan, Hiroshi (Takako) Teruya of Tokyo, Japan; mother-in-law, Kuulei Kanoho of Hilo; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 2 p.m.

Amy E. Yamamoto, 96, lifelong resident of Eleele, Kauai, died in Torrance, CA on November 18, 2015.
Amy is survived by daughter Geraldine Yamamoto (Glenn) Nefulda, sisters Masako Kimura, Shizuko Morita, sister in law Marion Yamamoto and numerous nieces and nephews.
