Hughes Nahuka Naumu, 76, passed away on Oct. 7, 2015, at his Las Vegas home.
Hughes is survived by his wife, Dorothea Bayot Naumu of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Yvette Kuulei Gettner of Scotts Valley, CA; son, Nathan Nalei Naumu of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Nadine Haunani Naumu of Lawai, Hawaii; son, Troy Kaili Naumu of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Daniel (Jaisa) Ikaika Cummings of Kapaa, Hawaii; grandson, Timothy (Tiffany) Cummings of Henderson, Nevada; great-grandson, Kaleb Kainalu Cummings (Timothy); great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Grace Hilin’ai (Daniel) Cummings; grandson, Nathan Palmore of Stafford, Virginia; half-sister, Arlene Edwards of Tomball, Texas and large extended family.
He is predeceased by his son, Hughes Nahuka “Tino” Naumu, who died in 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A private ceremony service was held at Desert Memorial in Las Vegas, Nevada. Final interment will be held at Kauai Veteran Cemetery, Hanapepe, Hawaii in August.
Theresa A. Fune
Theresa A. Fune, lovingly known as “Aunty Terry” passed away on Oct. 31, 2015, at the age of 74. She was born in Kapaa, Kauai on Oct. 9, 1941, and was a homemaker and child care provider.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Arruda, Sr. and Mary Victorino Arruda. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Arruda Jr., Jordan Arruda and Donald Arruda and her sisters, Marie Arruda and Georgina Arruda.
Aunty Terry is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Ronald Fune. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Cathline Broyles, Rose Fune and Lillian Arruda; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
A celebration of Aunty Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa. Visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. with Mass to begin at 10 a.m. and burial to follow at the St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd. is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Frank Gregory Lopez
Frank Gregory Lopez, 84, of Hilo, Hawaii, died on Nov. 14, 2015, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. He was born in Makaweli, Kauai, on Oct. 3, 1931, and was retired from the State of Hawaii Highways Department as a maintenance worker. He was a United States Army Veteran.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo from 9 to 10 a.m. with funeral service to begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 in Hilo at noon. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Lopez of Hilo; sons, Frank Lopez, III of Kalaheo, Thomas Lopez of Lihue, Eric (Kerry) Lopez of Oahu, Stacey Kobayashi of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Denise (Kalani) Louis of Oahu; brothe, Gerald Lopez of Pahoa; sisters, Barbara Silva of Kekaha, Isabel (Marcelino) Coyaso of Kalaheo, Virginia Lopez of Kalaheo; brothers-in-law, Yoichi Oba of Papaikou, Harold T. (Lily) Oba of Los Angeles, CA, Charles (Helen) Oba of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Hatsuno Fujimoto of Hilo, Shigeno (Takeshi) Kawamoto of Papaikou, Harriet (Jim) Huber of Henderson, NV, Karen (Richard Davis) Oba of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mario E. Acoba
Mario E. Acoba of Lihue, born on July 22, 1958, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Oct. 26, 2015, at the age of 57.
He is preceded in death by his father, Irenio Acoba and brother, Manuel Acoba.
Mario is survived by his mother, Leonora Acoba, sisters, Linda (Eric) Inouye and Ruena (Ron) Victorino Jr.; brothers, Rudy (Jean) Acoba and Michael (Celeste) Acoba; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Anna Karena Seidel
Anna Karena Seidel born March 28, 1979, in Waimea, Kauai, passed away at the age of 36 on Sept. 9, 2015, in Manhattan, New York where she was a massage therapist.
Anna was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Elliot Sommerdorf. She is survived by her mother, Emily Seidel of Kalaheo; sister, Amy (Les) Nagashima of Wailua; brothers, Marshall Sommerdorf Jr., William (Kim) Sommerdorf and nieces, Kayla and Nicole Summerdorf of North Carolina, as well as other relatives and dear friends.
She was a compassionate, loving and humorous soul and will be dearly missed. A private celebration was held in her honor.
Evelyn Kapumau-Bungula
Evelyn Noriani Kapumau-Bungula of Lihue passed away while visiting California on Nov. 8, 2015, at the age of 65. She was born in Hilo on June 20, 1950.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her daughter, Ivy Echavarria; parents, John and Evelyn Kapumau; brother, John Kapumau and sister, Evangeline Kapumau.
Evelyn is survived by her partner, Walter Holt; sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Sandborn; children, Lisa Kapumau, Lani Rose (Lionel) Arruda, Al (Thomasyna) Bungula, Moki (John) McCormack Solangago, Kaliloa Koa; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20 at Kalapaki Beach.
Ernesto Gallardo Pasion
Ernesto Gallardo Pasion of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on Oct. 22, 2015, at the age of 71. Born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines he was the Kauai County Auditor.
He is survived by his wife, Expidita “Edie” Pasion; son, Ernest J. Pasion II and three granddaughters.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 28, 8:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church, Kalaheo, Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
