Debra “Bully” Leilani Cummings of Kapaa, Kauai passed away on Oct.16, 2015, at the age of 63. Debra was born on Dec. 31, 1951, in Lihue, Kauai. She was a life-long entertainer and musician who was passionate about hula.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice “Sissy” Dabin and Laureano “Larry D” Dabin; grandparents, Helen I and John Rapozo Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Cummings; daughter, Dionne “DeeDee” Pegeder; stepsons, Gabriel Tabanera and Kanoe Lizama; sisters, Carolin “Bootsie” (John) Kuehu, Cheryl (Nick) Makepa, Kehau Kekua; brothers, Darrel “Braddah” (Faith) Dabin, Daniel “Kaipo” (Hoku) Dabin, Carl “Keali’i” (Suzie) Dabin, Clayton “Ka’iwa” (June) Dabin, Craig “Kimo” Dabin, Larry “Kalani” (Shelby) Dabin; as well as numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is deeply loved by all.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m.; service at 10:30 a.m.; lunch to follow at St. Catherine’s Hall. The family suggests casual attire.
Linda Mae Koerte
Linda Mae Koerte, 63, of Hanamaulu, Hawaii entered Heaven’s gates on Oct. 15, 2015. She died at Straub Hospital in Oahu, Hawaii. She was born on July 16, 1952, in Lihue, Hawaii, to Mary Lopes and Jocintho Duque. She married Michael G. Koerte on Feb. 17, 1979, and he survives.
Also suriving are her daughter, Tina (Marilyn) Prem, two sons, Judd and Travis (Misty) Koerte of Kauai; three grandsons, Makana (Pohai), Kainalu (Leeana) Waipa, Trey Omura-Hernandez, six granddaughters, Moana (Gail) Waipa, Pualani, Sierra, Xailea, Bailey Koerte, Sarijah Sanchez, one great-granddaughter, Kailee Waipa of Kauai; two sisters, Mary Jane (Bernard) Simao, Diana (Darrel) Simao, two brothers, Larry (Sharon) Duque, Derek (Cindy) Reis of Kauai.
Linda was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Albayrrak, Andrea Freitas, Delores Shaffer; two brothers, Dennis and Jocintho Duque.
Linda graduated from Kauai High School in 1971, then moved on to become a licensed beautician. Linda worked as a beautician at the Coconut Market Place in Kapaa, Hawaii, for many years. She then took an early retirement to stay at home and care for her three children.
Linda was the true definition of Mrs. Aloha. She always brought smiles to the faces of everyone she came in contact with. She was a very giving, loving and caring woman who was certainly the heart of her family. She will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa. The family requests casual attire.
