Muscle flexed

LIHUE — Kauai’s Cup, a local bodybuilding competition, made its return after 25 years Saturday at the Kauai Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue.

There were 20 competitors in the event and about 300 spectators in attendance, said event promoter Randy Ortiz.

Andy Gonzales, of Eleele, was the overall men’s winner and also won the lightweight division in the bodybuilding class. Other winners in the class include Chris Calio of Kalaheo (middleweight), Dirk Soma of Kalaheo (light heavyweight) and Moses Fiero of Eleele (heavyweight).

In the men’s fitness class, Jhonel Libunao, of Kapaa, won the short division, or five feet and six inches and shorter, and Kalei Perreira, of Kalaheo, won the tall division.

Casey Olores, of Kekaha, was the women’s overall winner and won the women’s bikini short division. Paula Russa, of Kapaa, won the tall division in the same class.

In the women’s figure class, Ani Parangao, of Eleele, won the short division and Jennifer Ingersoll, of Kalaheo, won the tall division.

The event was hosted by RK Sports and Ainofea Productions.
