Jace Monroid
Jace Al “Moochie” Monroid of Hanamaulu passed away at home on October 5, 2015, at the age of 61. He was born in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii on January 27, 1954. Jace worked at Kauai Surf as a cook and Wilcox Memorial Hospital kitchen as a receiving clerk.
He was preceded in death by his father, Al Monroid.
Jace is survived by his mother, Lucy Monroid of Hanamaulu; two sisters, Holly (Derek) Lopes of Hanamaulu and Stacey (Errol) Gabourel of Illinois; nephews, Vincent Lopes and Darrin Lopes; niece, Leann Lopes; grand nephews, Kaysen and Ridge Lopes; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Monroid family with arrangements.
Charles Kwai Chung Fu
Charles “Papa” Fu of Hanapepe passed away at home on September 25, 2015 at the age of 102. Born on June 24, 1913, in Wailua, Kauai he was a truck driver with Olokele Sugar.
He is survived by his sons Charles (Bonnie) Fu of Hanapepe, Douglas Fu of Wailua, and Calvin (Jeanne) Fu of Hanapepe; daughters, Lydia Kaohi of Eleele and Thelma (Damascio) Ruiz of Omao; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixty-eight great-grandchildren; forty-four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Hattie Baptiste of Florida, Ellen “Ah Lan” (Thomas) Kaneakua of O’ahu, and Anna “Lin Oui” Pacheco of O’ahu; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Makue Akana Fu; son Solomon Fu Sr.; son-in-law, Lionel Kaohi; daughter, Agnes (Thomas) Fuchigami; daughter-in-law, Ululani Pupuhi Fu; grandchildren, Charles Edward Fu and Stella Kahealani Fu Ortiz; parents, Lung Shak Fu and Phoebe Kelekoma; brothers, Harry “Kwai Wa” (Edna) Fu, Lono “Kwai Mun” (Francis) Fu, and Edwin “Ah Meng” (Clara) Fu; and sisters, Helen “Lin Choy” (George) Hitchcock, Lillian K. (Abraham) Mundon, and Emma (Joseph) Cummings.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at the Kalaheo Ward of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests aloha attire and flowers are welcomed.
