LIHUE — County officials announced that changes to the traffic flow on Hardy and Eiwa streets will be effective starting this week.
On Tuesday, the Hardy/Umi streets intersection will reopen as a roundabout.
On Wednesday, Eiwa Street will revert to the same configuration that was in place before the closure of the Hardy/Umi intersection. Eiwa Street will remain a two-way street, except that no turns will be allowed from Rice Street onto Eiwa Street. Left turns from Eiwa Street to Rice Street will continue to be prohibited.
The public is advised to exercise caution while driving, bicycling and walking through the area.
