Esther “Jade” Hew Allen of Lihue passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on June 30, 2015, at the age of 88. She was born in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, on March 15, 1927, and retired from the federal government.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Foon and Sui Yin Hew and eleven siblings.
She is survived by her husband, William Phillip Allen; two sons, Ross (Brenda Vidinha) Ikeda and Bill (Rebecca) Allen; two daughters, Kathy Allen-Hays and Laura Valhuerdi; 14 grandchildren, Lynn “Binky” (Jesse) Goo, Britney Ikeda, Daniel Ikeda, Sean Allen, Grant (Jackie) Sagum, Michael “Chad” (Angela) Hays, Monica Allen-Hays, Cory Allen-Hays, Cassandra Hays, Danielle Valhuerdi, Caitlin Valhuerdi, Colin Valhuerdi, Nicole Valhuerdi and Ryan Valhuerdi; five great-grandchildren, Jessie Goo, Jia Marie Goo, Aubrey Ikeda, Kaikea Saiki, Hudson, Hays; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Allen family with arrangements.
