Today marks the 11th annual International Surfing Day. Each year, celebrations take place across the globe in more than 30 countries featuring surf contests, concerts, film screenings and other surf and ocean related activities.
Kauai Surfrider will be cleaning up at Keoneloa Beach (Shipwrecks) today. It is partnering with Grand Hyatt Poipum, which will be providing light breakfast and a vegetarian lunch for volunteers. Joining the cleanup will be Kaui Sierra Club and the BRAD Foundation.
The cleanup will be from 9 to 11 a.m., when lunch will be served. Surfrider provides bags, gloves and tools. There will be prizes.
