As South Korean becomes a modern country, people are getting married later in life and having fewer children. This is resulting in single household growth.
To meet the needs of these single households, a new paradigm of single-serving foods are sold in many convenience stores. Costco and other big-box retailers have presence in South Korea but for the growing single households, your neighborhood convenience store will have everything you need. You are paying a little premium for the single-serving packaging but at least there is no waste in food, which is green for the environment. Mini refrigerators and other household appliances are now made for the single household. Kitchenettes with single burners, mini washers and dryers are among popular items in department stores.
