‘Be Kind to Animals’ contests underway

The Kauai Humane Society is having two contests for students.

The “Be Kind to Animals” writing contest is for high school students with the theme, “What does being kind to animals mean to you?”

Essays should be 250 words or less.

The top four winners will be featured in The Garden Island newspaper.

The “Be Kind to Animals” poster contest is for students in grades first through eighth. The theme is “How do you show kindness toward animals?”

Students making posters are encouraged to fill the page and make it colorful.

Essays and posters will be judged on originality, demonstration of the theme and creativity.

Winning posters will be featured in TGI and displayed at the humane society.

The deadline for both contests is April 24.
