Gabbard awarded for national service support

WASHINGTON – In recognition of her support for national service, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was awarded the Outstanding New Member Award by Voices for National Service. Awards were presented in Washington, D.C. at the 12th annual Friends of National Service Awards on Tuesday.

“It’s the greatest privilege to have an opportunity to be of service to the people of Hawaii and our nation,” said Gabbard, a Hawaii Democrat. “I learned from a young age the importance of doing my best to be of service to others, and to live aloha — this is what motivates me every day.”

Honorees were selected based on recognition and support for national service as a solution to some of the nation’s most pressing challenges.
