Accident causes snarl

LIHUE — Kauai Police officers responded to a two-car crash on Kaumualii Highway near Knudsen Gap around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Both drivers refused medical attention at the Koloa area scene. A Mazda SUV was reportedly heading east when it pulled over to the shoulder and attempted to make a U-turn, when it was T-boned by a Ford pickup truck traveling in the same direction.

The 27-year-old male driver of the Mazda, and the 49-year-old male driver of the Ford refused medical attention, but both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed, while traffic slowed.
