Feral goat, pig permits available

LIHUE — The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife has announced an opportunity for individuals to assist in an animal control hunt of feral goats in Hunting Unit F on Kauai.

Animal control is being limited to archery due to safety concerns. Interested individuals will need to have a valid hunting license.

Public archery only participation in the control of feral goats will open today and run through June 28, on weekends and state holidays. The limit will be two feral goats (either sex) per hunter, per day. Animals may be de-boned in the field. Blaze orange will not be required for the archery only season.

The ongoing feral pig hunting season will continue as scheduled.

Hunting Unit A will open to feral pig hunting and Hunting Unit J, Archery Area will also open to archers for pigs.

Hunters may pick up their permits in the Lihue Division of Forestry and Wildlife office at 3060 Eiwa St., Room 306. Hunters must present their 2014-15 Hawaii Hunting License when obtaining a permit.
