Anahola brush fire extinguished Tuesday

Firefighters from the Kapaa and Kaiakea stations responded to a brush fire at the end of Kukuihale Road round 3:25 a.m. Tuesday.

Roughly seven acres of land was burned before the fire was deemed extinguished about 5:30 a.m. Responding personnel reported that access to the fire was an issue as there were a number of derelict vehicles and other trash involved in the fire.

The fire did not threaten homes, Kauai County officials said.

Firefighters returned to the scene Tuesday to monitor hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Kapaa firefighters responded to a small brush fire around 6:45 p.m. Sunday just south of Kukuihale Road in Anahola. According to fire officials, a roughly 50-by-50 foot area of undeveloped land was scorched. There was no damage to structures or property.
