Happy Camper for Jan. 11, 2015

The free onion starts didn’t last an hour, said Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes. He had nearly a hundred bunches (each containing about 50 plants) to distribute (mahalo to Lenny Rapozo for coordinating the convention hall parking lot location), and even had recipes for onion rings accompanying the growing instructions to help the potential growers. And, of course, it’s not a Bunga event unless Gutsy Oyama is there helping.

Eric Hansen of Kauai Community College was going to get some for his upcoming classes, but everything was already gone.

Eric (mahalo to Haole Girl Croissant’s Judy Capertina for the tip) has a free sustainable farming class series coming up in early February at the Kauai CC and was busy prepping the lot ahead of the students’ arrival.

Happy New Year to Billy DeCosta who was watching the soccer games Thursday. He’s getting excited because Coach Chad Delanoza is trying to form a traveling baseball team for a tournament in San Diego later this year.
