Erika Kleinfeld cannot forget her birthday — it comes on the day after Christmas when fireworks go on sale.
Erika, who has been coming here for 14 years, and Ziba Medeiros (the poster girls were still home, sleeping) opened the Pacific Fireworks shop right on schedule at Kukui Grove Center.
Christmas Day, she was busy setting up the shop while Arnold Leong and the West Kauai Episcopal Church (namely, St. Paul’s in Eleele) cooked up rib roast and all the trimmings for the people at the Kauai Economic Opportunity shelter.
Next door at M. Kawamura Farm Enterprises (Lincoln Ching was doing his year-end visit), Ed Kawamura (he was too busy with mochi-making) is scheduled to speak at the opening of the Go For Broke exhibit which starts Jan. 5 at the Kauai Veterans Center (is the kalua pork and hot dog guy going to be there for lunch?).
Heather Phelps of Healing Horses says there is only a few days left for #Giving Tuesday (Dec. 31 deadline), and Kelvin Moniz of the Kauai Independent Food Bank said its Holiday Food and Fund Drive also ends on Dec. 31.
