HONOLULU — Kauai is set to receive one of the 30 deputy sheriffs that graduated Friday in a ceremony on Oahu.

The state Department of Public Safety hosted the graduation of the 2014 Sheriff Recruit Class at the Hawaii Okinawa Center. Officials, family members and friends gathered in Waipio to congratulate the new deputies who were added to the Sheriff Division to be assigned to positions across the state.

Sixteen of the new deputies will be assigned to Oahu, eight to Kona on Hawaii Island, five to Maui, and one will go to Kauai.
