Happy Camper for Dec. 22, 2014

Wayne Mukai said he had better avocado than his dad George. The pair were among the volunteers working to create kadomatsu, or New Year’s arrangement at the HGEA offices. Rep. Dee Morikawa hasn’t forgotten her roots because she was among the volunteers, having been doing it long before being elected.

Tommy Rita was raving about the help HGEA gets from Neal Wagatsuma. Patrick Watase is one of the longtime volunteers, being joined this year by Traven Watase.

Pearl Shimizu had to run away early because of the Shinbuyo Kai holiday show at the Kukui Grove Center, and Britnee and Kaytlen Akau both had volunteer time slots for the Toys for Tots at Wal-Mart.

Gerald Ako said they added an extra day which made Saturday’s workload just a little lighter, and Betty Matsumura was supervising “the good food” (no Becky Komaki malasadas this time) with Ken Morikawa.

OK, time to go check out Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry and the KPD officers on their Shop With a Cop program at the Big Kmart store.
