• The “Officer loses job for holding firearms” story printed in TGI Dec. 4 should have stated that a deferred acceptance of a no-contest or guilty plea is not a conviction. A deferral period is similar to probation and when it expires, a motion can be filed to dismiss the case without convictions appearing on a person’s record.
