Teachers to be honored
Five Kauai Community College leaders will be honored tonight at an Oahu gala celebrating 50 years of education excellence.
Brian Yamamoto of the natural sciences department, Mark Oyama of the culinary arts program, Francis Takahashi, recently retired from the electronics and technology department, David Iha, former chancellor at KCC, and Josephine Duvauchelle, a retired instructor who started the school’s nursing department in 1967, will be recognized at the reception.
Loni Delaplane, KCC math instructor, was selected as a Rising Star.
“We are extraordinarily proud of our history and the contributions made by those selected as the University of Hawaii Community Colleges’ 50 Finest and Rising Stars,” said KCC Chancellor Helen Cox in a press release.
The gala will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Pomaikai Ballrooms at Dole Cannery in Iwilei.
