Happy birthday to Tammy Puu who celebrated her birthday selling Chinese pretzels at the Grove Farm Community Swap Meet.
Gianna Riopta (she’s related to coach Peter Riopta) was also trying to raise money for her state Miss Hawaii Teen USA pageant with a variety of baked goods, pancit and other goodies.
Roman Cruz of Kekaha brought out his 30-year experience in woodburning and authentic Polynesian art (you need to see his Polynesian-inspired wood domino set), and chef Rafael Camarillo had his ono malasada working so he could make money to visit his daughter who is in the Army.
Happy birthday, too, to Frank Santos who celebrated his day accepting the Kauai Museum Living Treasure award with his wife Abbey. Congratulations, too, to the other recipients (Charlie Perreira says, “Welcome to my club!”) who deserve the honor. David Scott (still adjusting to Penhallow) and Maryanne Kusaka did a great job hosting the event, and how did Dr. Robert Goodale beat me to the game?
