In honor of Veterans Day, the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge is offering a fee-free day today.
The refuge will be closed on Veterans Day, Tuesday.
“We are indebted to our veterans for the sacrifices they have made for our country’s freedom and heritage,” said Shannon Smith, project leader for the Kauai National Wildlife Refuge Complex. “The Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge invites veterans and families to reconnect with nature through our public lands.”
The Refuge will be fee-free on Saturday during regular visitor hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refuge staff and volunteers will be stationed at Kilauea Point to assist visitors and provide natural history interpretation throughout the day. Lighthouse tours will also be available every hour on the half hour.
