LIHUE — Macy’s signature “Believe” holiday program that benefits Make-A-Wish will begin with a special visit by local wish kids at the Kukui Grove store on Friday.
Macy’s celebrates the holiday season’s spirit of generosity and goodwill as the retailer embarks on its seventh annual campaign benefiting Make-A-Wish.
Now through Dec. 24, “Believers” can bring their stamped letters to Santa at Macy’s. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
For this launch event, Make-A-Wish will have wish kids and alumni present for the letter drop-off events on each island.
Apryl Erickson, a 17-year-old Kauai High School senior from Kalaheo, will be at the Kauai Macy’s at around 3:30 p.m. She fought a two-year battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system that compromises the body’s ability to fight infection. Now in remission, Apryl was able to travel to Paris this summer through the Make-A-Wish program.
Customers can visit macys.com/believe to learn more and to write an online Santa letter.
