Happy Camper for Friday, September 26, 2014

Those who want Eugene “Uncle Unio” Punzal’s curly koa ukulele have until noon to get a donation (proceeds go toward Malie scholarships) in at the Mokihana Festival (Tom Hasslinger got to check out the blessing service).

Uncle Unio led the niu, or coconut, event for the weeklong festival Wednesday at the Kauai Museum (Chris Faye was working late).

Nelson Batalion said Kauai Community College (Lisa Murphy Alison said credit union week is coming up, soon!) was having its Club Day (Chef Martina Hilldorfer said the culinary club is in the final stages of being formed) where campus organizations were recruiting members.

Mike Kano (he was one of the three-troop contingent who went to Oahu for the merit badges) was back at the Kauai High School air rifle range along with Blanche Arakaki who came to watch her daughter.

Meanwhile, Dennis Andaya made the trek out to Kaumakani Neighborhood Center to check out his daughter who was shooting against Waimea High School.
