Make a Splash Festival closes road Thursday

LIHUE – The Make a Splash Water Festival, an educational event for fifth-grade students from around the island, will be held at the Pua Loke arboretum on Thursday.

To accommodate the event, Pua Loke Street, between Haleko Road and Kaumualii Highway, will be closed from 7:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Department of Water’s 11th annual event.

Only local traffic for businesses in the area will be allowed, and the road closure is necessary to protect the safety of the students, chaperones and volunteers.

There will be limited customer services available at DOW while the festival is in progress.

Water bill payments will be accepted throughout the day.

However, the water resources and planning division will not be processing water permits until after the event. Only handicapped parking will be available at DOW during the festival.

Info: DOW at 245-5455 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
