LIHUE – The Kauai Chamber of Commerce will host its first Education and Workforce Development Leadership Series on Friday.
The luncheon and talk by Mark Silliman, the director of the Waipahu High School Early College High School Initiative/Jobs for the Future, will be held at JJ’s Broiler at Anchor Cove in Nawiliwili.
The focus of the talk will be “Early College High School Initiative: Jobs for the Future.”
It will include a glimpse into how early college learning while still in high school impacts a student and how the practice can deliver a long-term return on the investment for students and communities.
Silliman received a doctorate in education from Columbia University – Teacher’s College, New York. His career in education spans teaching English as a second language to administrative positions at Leeward Community College, including dean, provost and chancellor.
The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required and the cost is $30 per person.
