Herbert Case
Herbert Brewster Case of Poipu passed away on July 31, 2014 at the age of 92. Born on August 9, 1921 in Hollywood California, he was a U.S. Merchant Marine WWII Veteran. Retired from Civil Service and worked at Port Allen on Navy retrieval boats.
Preceded in death by his wife Mary, brother Everett, of Kalaheo, sister Charlotte of Oregon.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff Case of Hilo and Gary Case of Poipu. Grandchildren, Maile Lambeth of Honolulu & Tia Anthony Case of Hilo. 4 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 10:00 a.m. at Poipu Beach Park.
Juan Valenciano
Juan Valenciano of Hanapepe, Kauai, Passed away on August 17, 2014 at the age of 95 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on May 16, 1919 in the Philippines, He was a Retired Laborer from the Olokele Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Mariano Valenciano, Placido Valenciano Sr.
He is survived by his wife: Presentacion Ramos Valenciano, 7 Sons: Nerio (Terry) Valenciano, Danilo (Ofelia) Tutop, Sr., Romeo (Lelani) Valenciano, Edgar (Leilanie) Valenciano, Elmer (Aida) Valenciano, Cesar (Phealyn) Valenciano, Arnel (Jocelyn) Valenciano; 1 Sister: Virginia Ballesteros, 14 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday August 30, 2014 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. Where services will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Walter Niitani
Walter H. Niitani of Ele’ele passed away on May 18, 2014 at his home at the age of 83. Born on June 1, 1930 in Honolulu, He was an avid traveler, fisherman and golfer. He retired from the County of Kauai as a Surveyor in 1992.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gladys Torigoe Niitani.
He is survived by his son, Mark Niitani of Ele’ele, brothers, George Niitani of Ele’ele, Edwin (Masako) Niitani of Honolulu, and Charles (Janet) Niitani of Lihue, 7 Grand children: Marissa and Lainey Niitani, Carl-Lynn, Courtney, Kalei, Michael and Bryce. 4 Great grand daughters: Zhara-Lei, Jordynn, Chloe and Rhylee.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 22, 2014 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ele’ele from 9 am to 10:30 am, service to follow. Interment at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.

Damien Lazaro
Damien Kaleo Lazaro of Kekaha died on Aug. 10, 2014 at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at the age of 40. Born on April 3, 1974 in Waimea, Kauai, he was a Supervisor at Pioneer Hi-Bred International.
Preceded in death by his parents, Damiano “Gundy” & Althea Lazaro.
He is survived by his son Dylan Pulama Lazaro of Kalaheo, daughter Destiny K. Lazaro, partner Amelia Kyewich, brothers, Chico (Elsie) Lazaro, Leroy (Annie) Lazaro, Michael (Wanda) Lazaro, and Kimo Lazaro, all of Kekaha, sister Lani (Kainoa) Keuma of Hanapepe, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Service at 12:30 pm, with burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Lorena Lisa Nanod
Lorena Lisa Nanod of Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii passed away at her home in Maui on July 31, 2014 at the age of 58. Born on Feb. 18, 1956 in Lihue. She was a retail sales representative for the Grand Wailea.
Preceded in death by her father, Menelio Lastimoza, brother, Chad Lastimosa.
She is survived by her husband, Lance Nanod, son, Jarrett Nanod, mother, Teodocia Lopez Lastimoza, brothers, Lorenzo “Larry”, Benjamin “Benny”, Timothy “Timmy”, Melchior “Mel” Lastimosa, sisters, Melissa Hedges, Linnea and Meda Lastimosa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 23, 2014 at Nakamura Mortuary. Visitation at 9:30 AM, Service at 10:00 AM, Inurnment to follow at 2:00 PM at Maui Memorial Park.

William “Bill” L. Curammeng Sr. of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on August 11, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. Born on February 8, 1933 in Koloa, Kauai. He was a Retired teacher at Wilcox Elementary School.
Preceded in death by his parents, Marcos & Ana Curammeng, sister, Leonora Albayalde, brother, Alfredo Curammeng.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Curammeng, sons, William Curammeng Jr. (Tess), Joseph Curammeng, Duane (Janice) Curammeng, Glenn (Lelyn) Curammeng, Darren (Michelle) Curammeng
daughters, Joycelyn (Jason) Iwata, Janice (Dean) Russell, 19 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces & nephews & cousins & friends.

Fusako Hashimoto Shido of Kapaa/Kalaheo passed away on Aug. 12, 2014 at home at age 97. Born on July 26, 1917 in Honolulu, she was a retired Proprietor of Shido’s store, house of fabric in Kapaa.
Preceded in death by her husband, Kaname Shido.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Faith) Shido of Oahu and their children- Tiffany (Eric) Navarro of California and their three children, and Summer Shido of Honolulu; daughter, Merrily (Gary) Hall of Kalaheo and their children, Jonathan K. Hall and Stacie M. Hall, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Walter (Betty) Hashimoto and their daughter Annemarie Hashimoto of Oahu; sister, Margaret (Herbert) Tom of Oahu and their sons- Spencer Tom of Washington and Randall Tom of Oahu; nephew, Dr. Robert Toda of Vermont, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held.

Consuelo Bueno Dela Cruz of Kaumakani, Kauai passed away on August 6, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on April 29, 1927 in Paoay Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was a social worker for Elderly Affairs and a seamstress.
Preceded in death by her parents, Claudio & Susana Bueno, sister, Cleta Puyaoan, brother, Gregorio Bueno.
She is survived by her husband, Bendedicto “Benny” Dela Cruz, Kaumakani, daughter, Helen (Charito) Matute, California, brother, Narciso ( Purificacion) Bueno, Eleele, Isidro (Helenda) Bueno, Eleele, sister, Adelaida (Alipio) Cristobal , Oahu, grandchildren, Charlene Matute-De Haro & Jennifer Matute, great grandchildren Analy and Isa De Haro. Numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
