The annual toro nagashi, or lantern ceremony, marking the end of the bon season has been canceled due to hurricanes headed for Hawaii.
Originally scheduled for Sunday at the Kukuiula Small Boat Harbor, the ceremony will instead be held as a candlelighting event at the Koloa Jodo Mission located adjacent to the First Hawaiian Bank, Koloa Branch.
The temple will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today for people who want to visit.
Ishikawa, also a member of the Kauai Buddhist Council, said the bon dances scheduled for the Waimea Shingon Mission Friday and Saturday have been canceled due to the weather conditions.
