Tropical storm warning issued for Kauai and Niihau

The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Kauai and Niihau due to the approaching Iselle and Julio storm systems. The Tropical Storm Warning is in effect until further notice.

Preparations to protect life and property should be completed as conditions can change quickly in a tropical cyclone.

Evacuate if directed to do so by local officials or if your home is vulnerable to high winds or flooding.  Shelter openings will be announced if they are deemed necessary.

Persons living near the shore should be prepared to evacuate quickly if building surf threaten your home.

At ports, docks and marinas, perform the prescribed preparations according to your emergency operations plan.

If you live on a boat, begin to safely secure your craft, and make plans to leave it for adequate land-based shelter.

Small craft should return to port or seek safe harbor.

For weather updates, stayed tuned to the NOAA weather radio or local media.
